Anayirangal Dam

The Anayirankal Dam is flanked by the Tata Tea Plantation and a thick cover of evergreen forests. Anayirankal dam  one of the largest earthen dams built in the 1960s is located 26 km from Munnar, A boat ride on the splendid reservoir is an unforgettable experience that no visitor should miss. Attraction Dam , Landscape Activities Boating. The nearest village is Chinnakanal and the waterfalls here, popularly known as Power House Waterfalls, cascade down a steep rock 2000 m above sea level. Anayirangal, 26 km from Munnar, is a lush green carpet of tea plants. The name ‘Anayirangal’ is the amalgamation of two Malayalam words; ‘aana’ which means elephant and ‘irangal’ which means descend. As the name suggests, elephant herds come down to drink water from the Dam. Unlike other reservoirs, Anayirngal dam  is best during the summer months after both monsoon and post monsoon rains. There are lake and tea plantation adjacent to the Dam, which adds extra gorgeousness to this reservoir. Like a jade green carpet, the tea plantation plays a major part in attracting tourists. You can be revitalized while strolling through the plantation with the caressing touch of aroma-laden breeze flowing from the plantations.
